Morning all. I have taken an interest in Indian coinage of late and while facinating, I am learning that attributing these guys (properly) is giving me as much of a headache as
provincials did when I first started them, with less online refences to choose from!
Anyway, enough complaining...what I have here (at least it was sold as) is a
drachm of Rudrasimha I. Where I am having trouble is with the
reverse legend matching up with
his regular
reverse legend as found on
http://coinindia.com/galleries-rudrasimha1.html . Well, that and the fact that it is a small
flan and most of the
obverse legend was unstruck...and the fact that there is no crecent on the left
side of the
hill (unstruck? worn off? never there?)
as is clearly evident on the coins illistrated on the site.
So...in short I am stuck. Any
help would be fantastic!
