Since the only emperor I collect (on purpose right now) is
Tacitus, I finally picked up the releveant copies of Sylviane Estoit's book of coins in the BN de
France.
I started on
Vol XII (
Vol 12.1 and 12.2) since these cover
Tacitus, so I don't have a description of what things mean inside the book. Most things I can figure out on my own.
Example:
1397
IMP CL TACITVS
AVG buste laure a droite, cuirasse et draped 4,95 1
RIC 10, BAST 11,
Estiot 1992/2, 4a
1397 is the coin number
IMP CL TACITVS
AVG - is obvious
buste laure a droite, cuirasse et draped is laurette, draped,
cuirassed bust left
4,95 is the
weight in grams
1 I do not know what this number means and want to
Does anyone know how to interpret the number?
Also the
Aureus and Aureliani are listed but how do you know when you are in the Ants?
