This used to be my favorite site on the whole internet, and I also bought it on CD. To this day I keep one older
Mac just for using
Perseus. On line, evidently because
money from sources such as CPB
ran out, some compromises have been made, of many kinds: not only additional and unrelated material given prominence but a new
search engine system, through which I defy anyone to get to the wonderful coins (all
Dewing, many BMFA, and other
collections), or to navigate to find anything specific once there. Not only the coins but the sites and the interactive Classical
maps and the vase-painting and the
sculpture are practically inaccessible. That is why I keep the CDs that
work in the older computer: just for the Real
Perseus!
