Diocletian Quies (but no Providence)
(1/1)

Greetings!
I have just bought this from Forvm, making good use of Forum Bucks to do so! Good scheme .. I would be grateful for a confirmation of the identification. There was one, of course, on the Forum flip and listing, but the reverse legend was misquoted as "GENIO POP-VLI ROMANI" so I can not be sure that the attribution was correctly entered either. It was given as "RIC 225, Bastien XI 444". Is this correct, please?
Obverse: IMP DIOCLETIANO P F S AVG, laureate bust right, wearing imperial mantle, olive branch in right, mappa in left.
Reverse: QUIES AVGG S C, Quies standing left, branch held low in R hand in front, leaning on tall scepter with L hand behind.
Exergue: PLC
26.7 x 27.5 mm, 8.4 grammes.
Thanks!

Hi Bill
Yes, this is RIC VI 225, so I assume the Bastien reference would be correct as well. It is dated in RIC to 'Summer 307'
Best wishes
Alan
