tyche turreted veiled....bee or cicada rev?

(1/1)

fionasouths123:
Does anyone know if any of the coins minted with Tyche have reverses of a bee or cicada? This is the only thing I can think of to fit with this pattern on the reverse. Any other ideas as to what it might be?? There seems to be writing on either side as well, although it is now way past legible. There is a countermark? on the obverse......would this have been done before or after the Romans took control?  Also, the coin is a golden colour.....is this likely to be electrum? ???

Hi again

Take your pick:

Is probably bronze so look for AE22 with a shape similar to your reverse for a possible match. Looks like a male head, right to me...

Could be (upside down) a standing figure with writing to left and right flowing downwards/upwards?

www.wildwinds is a good website for searching all things Greek/Roman.

Hi,

Your coin is not electrum.  It's a base metal.
