Constans - scarce type

(1/1)

Peter B6:
A detector find a couple of days ago from Hampshire. Aquileia mint with ‘F’ between the Standards. Much scarcer than I thought. Will add it the PAS database. RIC VII pg407, no 127.

Nice little find! I believe it's RIC 134 rather than 127. The latter number refers to another short series which used  :plus: as the control mark rather than an F.

I do wonder why coins from this series are so scarce (indeed, coins from Aquileia at this point are all seemingly quite scarce). I'm lucky enough to have one of your coins' companions, from the Constantinopolis series (RIC 137).

Also, the obvious question: what does the F stand for??
