(1/2) > >>

Timestheus:
Hello...

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=7726&pid=175564#top_display_media

i get a silver denarius from Geta with the inscription "ADVENTVS AVGVSTI" but i find not so many background information about it.
Is the minting of this coin, when the severan family is allways in britain? or they was on the way to rome? or when they will arrived still in rome?
Is there anymore background information about this coin you can give me?

Thanks for your feedbacks!

David Fischer:
The reverse inscription 'Adventus Augusti' signifies the celebration of the arrival of the Emperor in Rome. The adventus ceremony would have involved meeting the Emperor on his way followed by a procession through the city, so these coins would have been in association with that occasion. Whether this coin was minted in anticipation of the adventus or after it I am not certain, but generally speaking this would have been around the time Caracalla and Geta returned home from the campaign in Britain.

Thank you for the link. However, I already knew that one. Unfortunately, the content and text refers only to Hadrian. But thank you for the hint.
