Lorica Segmentata Washer?

(1/2) > >>

Kilian O:
Good day,

Is it possible this could be a washer armour fitting for Lorica Segmentata?
It's silvered copper alloy, diameter 24mm and weights arround 19 grams.

Thank you and have a great day  ;D

I don't think so.  All the ones I've seen are rosettes and not as domed.

Hi,

Hi,

There are a variety of circular studs described as belt mounts (some up to 24mm) in Roman Buckles and Military Fittings by Appels and Laycock. Figure AA10.11 in particular is very similar to yours.

Regards,

Mauseus

Hey,

Yeah I do agree but I have found references online that it might be. Problem is that these washers were quite universal, could be part of baldric, armour, helmet or just a belt mount.

Thanks for replying. I did see that it's very similar so i'm learning more towards it being a mount of some sort rather then a washer.
