Roman Nested Bowl "Castor" Weights

Readers may be aware of the nested bowl weights from medieval Byzantium, but they may not know that similar weights were used in the Roman imperial period (I certainly didn't).

Shown below is a superb set of weights from Feldkirchen (Austria), ranging from 20 libra to 1 oz. These types were likely copies of the official master weights held in the temple of Castor & Pollux in Rome, and sent to the provinces as local reference weights.
