What are your best coins found in uncleaned lots? Here are some of mine. :)

Coins have two sides. Any picture of a coin must show both sides.

Geez coming off kind off hard there, forgot to attach..... I know a coin has two sides, didn't know there was a rule even.

Once in a while, you DO find a needle in a haystack, right? ;)

I've had a few other nice finds that I sold, but these are the best ones I held on to:

Constans I (R4)

Constantius II (R)

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-52559

And this interesting coin, which was attributed by Dane Kurth (Helvitica):

Valentinian I, Thessalonica, AE3, 18mm, 1.95 gr.

D N VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, pearl diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right
GLORIA RO-MANORVM, emperor in military dress advancing right, holding
labarum & dragging captive behind him, left field: Z, right field: star
over Gamma, mintmark TES. RIC IX 26a var.

Notes: A rare mule with a Valentinian I obverse and Gratian reverse,
this is the second one I know of. dk

Notes: A rare mule with a Valentinian I obverse and Gratian reverse,

It's not a mule, just an unlisted workshop. The author of RIC even says "My evidence for many of these mint-marks is very scanty..." (pg 168)

I remember having this conversation before-

This is not a mule, but an unlisted officina. For each of the many mint marks in this series, there is a possibility of one of four--  :Greek_Alpha:  :Greek_Beta:  :Greek_Gamma: :Greek_Delta:. However, many are not noted (but are to be expected) because of the sheer volume of different marks (39 according to RIC) and the author of RIC even says that his "evidence for many of these mint-marks is very scanty."

Victor,

Can't remember if I forwarded that info over to Dane but will do it.

Thanks (again!) :)

It's certainly a spectacular result. Did you send the new pictures to the PAS people?

I Never actually even thought to do that... But I suppose especially with it being an imitation it would be fairly important to do so. Thanks for the reminder Andreas... I shall send them a mail this evening!!

I also have this coin which I am very pleased with in my collection...
It is prettier and more detailed in hand ( as the results of cleaning Greeks tend to be..) and while not worth much in cash terms, I love having a MFB in my collection I found myself !

Neapolis, Campania, Italy, c. 270 - 240 B.C.
Obv. Apollo left
Rev. Victory crowning Man Faced Bull right.

My best uncleaned find, and my overall best roman coin i will ever find is a Hanniballianus AE4 from my first uncleaned balkans lot! My second best (not for rarity or value) uncleaned find was a saloninia silvered pietas antoninianus. I am plannng on ordering another lot and post here if i get anything good.
I am the Avgstvs of all the Milkmen still out there. Fear me
