Oil lamp
« on: October 08, 2014, 12:31:09 am »
Have acquired a couple of lamps, I have no reason to suspect them at all, just that I do not collect lamps
I have this one ID'ed as a Roman Period Factory Lamp, 1st-3rd century AD. 95mm/63mm. Any thoughts?

thanks

I completely concur.

1st to 2nd century most likely, with possibility of manufacture into 3rd.  See reference below:

The Loeschcke Type IXc nozzle is a fairly early style for this type but the crude provincial manufacture suggests a date in the 2nd - early 3rd centuries AD.
