Pleiades change moratorium
« on: September 03, 2021, 11:27:15 pm »
I suppose that anyone involved actively with Pleiades will have received this, but just in case, I am attaching what I have received. I am not sure if access to view will be down for any time, but it may be with a move to a new platform, although I am sure any down time for viewing will be minimal, if at all. For those that are not aware, Pleiades is an awesome mapping platform for ancient sites. I have written about it here before, but here is a link: https://pleiades.stoa.org/

Dear colleagues:

Effective 5pm Eastern Time on Thursday, 16 September 2021, we will be placing the Pleiades website into a “read only” mode for all personnel except the Editorial College. No changes, edits, corrections, or additions will be possible after this time.

Editing privileges for the Editorial College will be shut down 24 hours later, at 5pm Eastern Time on Friday, 17 September 2021. This 24 hour period is being set aside solely to review and publish items submitted by the preceding day’s deadline. Please endeavor to submit intended changes and additions well in advance of the Thursday deadline so we have time to deal with any problems that may arise.

Under no circumstances will it be possible to make any changes at all to Pleiades after 5pm on Friday until we have completed the site’s transition to new hosting with Amazon Web Services, which must be complete by 30 September at the latest. A return to service earlier than 30 September is both possible and intended, but it cannot be guaranteed. This timing has been forced on us by external factors and cannot be changed.

Thank you,
Tom
