Roman mount/applique for?

Anyone has an idea what this item might be? It looks like a shield boss but I really doubt it's that with a diameter of only 56mm and weight of 50 grams. It might be something modern so would like an opinion on what it might be  :) .

Not a shield boss.  Way too small.  I have one the same and have seen several others.  I suspect they are Roman given frequency of finds.  But perhaps a harness thing or more likely furniture boss.

Where this item has been found? If on Balkans could be from ottoman era belt .I have the same ,even diameter is the same
