Correction:

After an email from Mr. Jekov I checked this coin again and I believe that he is right: This type already exists. It is Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2028) No. 8.10.38.3 and it is Tyche. The coin shown here shows a strongly defaced Tyche.

With kind regards
Jochen

I have found this AE27 of Geta (10.00g), an example of

HrHJ (2012) 8.22.20.1 (Aurelius Gallus 201-203 AD),

and have been advised to post the photo here.

A correction for Elagabal

Elagabal, AD 218-222
AE 17, 3.54g, 16.92mm, 180°
obv. [AV K M AVR] - ANTWNINOC
Bust, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r.
rev. NIKOPOLITWN PROC IC(TR)WN (TR ligate)
Tropaion with 2 captives at base, at left side Nike stg. r. writing on shield, at r. side emperor stg. l., resting with raised l. hand on spear and extending r. hand to tropaion
ref.: a) not in AMNG
cf. AMNG I/1,2028 (for the type only)
       b) not in Varbanov
       c) Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2018) No. 8.26.47.7 corr. (same dies, writes ICTRON)
coll. Hoeft

The TR of ICTRWN is unclear. I think it is a ligate TR.

A correction for Caracalla and a new die combination for Elagabal

Until now this type was listed under Caracalla HrHJ (2018) No. 8.18.47.12 (plate coin). But now it turns out that all coins of this type are from the same reverse die that was struck for Elagabal. Therefore this coin has to be put to Elagabal as well!

obv. [AV K] M AVR - ANTWNINOC

hand, on the r. side emperor in short military cloak and boots, stg. l., r. hand
raising to tropaion and holding spear in l. hand.
ref. a) not in AMNG
b) not in Varbanov (engl.)
c) Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2018) No. 8.26.47.-
The obv. die is otherwise not known for Elagabal.

Mr. Gospodin Jekov is preparing the new edition of "The Coinage of Nicopolis ad Istrum 2020" where all 178 here posted coins will be included. The book is now in print. The price will be €115.- + shipping.

Therefore this thread is now closed and I will open a new thread "Nicopolis Addenda #8", that will be an integral part of "The Coinage of Nicopolis ad Istrum 2020".

Best regards
Jochen
