Antonius Pius Sestersius

(1/1)

cicerokid:

Lurking in the bottom of my coin case for years amongst a few other neglected Roman bronze bits.

About time it got an airing, Obverse Antonius Pius..... Reverse seems to be Liberalis Cos 1111 SC. Bronze I guess 33 mm 20gm ish

benito:
Its not liberalis. Libertas.
Its not COS 1111 ( MCXI ) its COS IIII.
It is Roman.
You graeco-roman mongrels   ;D

cicerokid:

Thank you very much for your valuable imput, Benito.

I must look at it properly....however I do have difficulty, ( yes, really), focusing on and making sense of patinaed bronze, the smaller Constatine type stuff is a nightmare, that is why I went into Roman silver, and then of course nice and big Greek.

Might get the other bronze/green nasty stuff out.
