I guess that the
star or sunburst symbol, worn on a ring in an ancient context, is probably a manifestation of some branch of sun worship or sun-associated deity (no prizes there). Even perhaps Mithraism. I think it's one of those
symbols that probably means a lot of various things to different world cultures; however I have seen
Byzantine lead seals with the sunburst /
star design. Perhaps more information would need to be gleaned from the actual
style of the ring itself rather than just going on the symbol alone. Sorry I can't be more specific
