Two nice little roman provincials
« on: July 05, 2003, 11:57:12 am »
I have two 17mm roman provincials:

1 - Geta - Pautalia
Reverse PCEPTI IETACKAI - male figure with chalmys/cornucopia?
Obverse PAVTA LIWTWN - young bust of Geta facing r

2 - Diadumenian - Nikopolis
Reverse - in five lines NIKO-POLITLN-PROC-ICTR-W(some of the letters were tough to read as the dies were not made as well tho the reverse is EF)
Obverse -  is a bust of Diadumenian, but I have not deciphered all the letters yet except to know it is him.

Any reference numbers you could give would be appreciated and I will be glad to send pics of them by email.  Just let me know! Thanks!

Does the Geta look like this rather poor example?

Amusing coincidence if so, I was just trying to attribute this coin today, with little success.  I can't find it in Sear, Lindgren, or SNG Copenhagen.
