« on: December 01, 2007, 05:19:19 pm »
Dear all,

It has been a while since I posted anything new even though coins seem to be pouring through the letterbox at an alarming rate  8)

A scarce city - this is only the third example from Diadumenian that I know off.

Province:  Cilicia
City:  Anemurium
Size (mm):  26
Weight (g):  11.00
Die Axis:  10
Tariff:  -
Ob. Leg.  KAI M OPE DIADOVMENIANOC (starting at 9 o'clock)
Ob. Desc.  Bare headed and draped bust - seen from behind
Rev. Leg.  ETB ANEMOV [PIEWN]
Rev. Desc.  Artemis r. holding bow, plucking arrow, stag at feet
Other References; Lindgren 1453; ISEGRIM 16125

Malcolm,

Diadumenian is not an emperor that I collect, but Artemis is a Goddess I collect - very nice - and from an interesting Asia Minor city - Anemurium - If you could see me I might be green!!  ;)

Thanks Michael and Charles,

I am - I think - pretty well down to the harder to get coins now, type wise (a.k.a. expensive!) - not counting Moesian die variations which are also of interest.  I really have to desist from buying minor coins and save for the big ones when they come along.

Little Sydni is doing well - only waking once at night :) - much easier to look after than the last one - so far :)

thanks for asking

I have attached another recent purchase for which I have only Sydenham 509 cf - as a reference - I'd be grateful to anyone who could share any other references for this, quite a nice example

Province:  Cappadocia
City:  Caesarea
Size (mm):  15
Weight (g)  2.36
Die Axis:  0
Tariff  -
Ob. Leg.  M OP [.] DIAD
Ob. Desc.  Bare headed, draped and cuirassed bust right
Rev. LegMHTPO KAICAP ET B
Rev. Desc.  Mount Argaeus, on fire altar
References; Sydenham 509 cf.;

all the best

Malcolm
