Dear all,
found this interesting piece (whereas in bad condition).
AE 37, 22.52 gm.
Obv.: 3 persons seated, no legends left
Rv.: Cilicarch crown (?)
The latter is the interesting
part. While the
obverse looks quite similar to the three seated emperors (
Decius, Etruscus,
Hostilian) coins from Anazarbus (
Ziegler 751 and
Ziegler 771), the
reverse seems to be a clear indication that the coin is actually from Tarsus because of the Cilicarch crown. Also, the size of 37 mm rather would indicate Tarsus.
However, I could not find such a coin for Tarsus.
Probably, I am just simply overlooking something.
