Probably another unofficial denarius of Caracalla?

(1/1)

Aeneas:
Dear FORVM

This denarius (2.99g) turned up a few days ago in an auction. The condition of the coin is not very good and the reverse legend is barely readable but the dealer quotes it as CERERI FRVCTI. In RIC (p. 267, 355) there is mention of a rare denarius of AD 202 with the legend CERERI FRVGIS (which I never encountered -> does it really exist as an official coin?) but not with the above legend. What do you think? Probably another unofficial, barbarian imitation I suppose.

Greetings, David
