How far should one go? Silvered Gallienus
« on: October 31, 2022, 05:06:04 pm »
I recently acquired what might be my favorite coin I own, a fully silvered RIC 607 Gallienus. I spent some time carefully removing the soft dirt, got to the green encrustations and slowly worked at them with lemon juice. Is this the kind of coin you would soak to get off the last little bits? Should I clean with q-tips for longer? Should I stop now? What would you do in this circumstance?
Looking for more underpriced uncleaned coins. Let me know if you find them.

Looks good to me.  I'd consider it done.  If you want to tackle the remaining encrustations I'd use a Q-tip and spot treat it.

Thanks. I agree. I think I'll leave well enough alone on this Gallienus.
