Oh, no. I really cannot believe this! It appears that all this time, I've been looking at the worn and patinated surfaces of slugs rather than dirt!!! Well, at least for some of my coins... But wow. I guess that says two things: one, I really do have a lot to learn, and two, these coins must be of horrible
quality to have deceived me so! But anyways, I would like to know a few things. Firstly, are there any harsh cleaning methods that function like
electrolysis that I could use on my thicker slugs that might reveal something underneath? They're worthless anyway, might as well see... Secondly, I would like some opinions on what this
red residue could possibly be. After soaking my coins in oil and cleaning them up with
soapy water, letting them sit in tap water temporarily, I noticed a strange reddish deposit that
had formed on my coins. It scrapes off rather easily and looks sort of rusty. The coins
had soaked in the oil for about a month or two. What could it be? Hmm... Pictures may be soon to come! Feel free to tell me if you think pictures would be helpful!
