greek help? corn wreath? (photos in replies)
« on: October 11, 2021, 07:31:44 pm »
Hello all,
I was hoping you could help me id this coin. there isn't much to go by other than a corn wreath (which i assume appears on the other side) and some letters in the middle. This has led me to assume it to be from 200-100BC Kyzikos (although i am unsure if it is from here as it is smaller than all the examples i could see on wildwinds). The weight is: 2.11g

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much!
Mark

Dear Mark L3 and Board,

Clearer photos would help, but it looks like this bronze issue of Elaeus in the Thracian Chersonese:

Always enjoy studying these Thracian coin typesHope this helps.

Best regards,

Hi Mark,
Sorry, I've only got my phone and it's not the best to take close ups with.
In the second picture it appears as though the text goes horizontal in the wreath rather than vertical (with the bottom of the wreath being at the bottom) as seen in photo#2. It looks like it might say A... Also.
But I'll take a look at Elaious.
If you come up with any other ideas, please let me know.
Best regards
Mark

Hello,
I tried to take some better pictures with my camera but i'm not sure if they're much better. Hopefully they're a bit clearer.
