Hadrianopolis Gordianus III variant?
« on: October 31, 2021, 08:52:33 am »
Hi,

Could this be a variant? It's 25mm, 9,6gm's
It look a bit like Jurukova 544: Obverse: ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ΑΥΓ; laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III, r., seen from rear
Reverse: ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ; Nemesis standing l., holding scales and cubit rule; at feet, wheel
Reference: Jurukova, Hadrianopolis 544 Specimens: 9 Volume: VII.2 №: — (unassigned; ID 67346)

The problem is, that ΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ is ΠΟ ΛΕΙΤΩΝ instead of Π ΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ. Could this be a variant?

Thanks in advance..
Yours
Svir

Check out the specimens listed for https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/type/67345 .BMC 38 seems to be a die match.
Regarding Jurukova varieties, I can't say, would have to check out Jurukova first .
