I recently acquired the attached
denarius which is fairly worn on the bottom of the
bust.
In researching the
type I came across the same coin in three
auctions since 2008. Each time the
obverse was described differently
1) diademed and draped
bust of
Gallienus right
2) laureate and
cuirassed bust of
Gallienus right
3) Laureate
bust r., drapery on far shoulder
I believe description number two is the best fit ( laureate and
cuirassed bust of
Gallienus right) based on a similar example with a different
fides reverse (second image)
Looking for any opinions on the descriptions above or alternative I might have overlooked
