A correction for Domna

Julia Domna, AD 193-211
AE 18, 2.73g, 17.89mm, 210°
obv. EIOVLI - DOMN CE
       Bust, draped, r.
rev. [NIK]OPOLIT PROC ICTR[ON]
Large 8-pointed star with dots at the points
ref. a) not in AMNG
      b) not in Varbanov
      c) Hristova-Hoeft-Jekov (2017) No. 8.17.48.5-6
coll. Hoeft

Here it is clearly NIKOPOLIT. I think that is true for 48.5 and 48.6 too.
48.7 has clearly ICTRON. I think tat this is true for 48.5 and this coin too.
So we have only 1 type and all 3 coins should get the same number.

Wow ... are they really that green?

You'll probably be all pissy-pants because I've posted something in your solo-thread? ... sorry about that

=> but seriously, are they actually that colour (very cool, if true)

Great thread

cheers

Hi Steve!

This interesting coin I have not yet in my hand. It is the pic of the seller. When I have the coin I will correct the pics if necessary.

If you have coins of Nikopolis you can send me a PM with pic and dates and I will attribute them for you. If there is a new one I will add it to this thread.

Now I have the coin in hand and the patina of the pic is authentic. It is the famous emerald green colour of the malachite [Cu2(CO3)(OH)2]
The weight I have had to correct.

Hi again, Jochen ... Steve here

Hey, I found this lil' beauty in my collection (I checked through your thread and I didn't see it) ...

=> if you want to trade for it then I'm all ears (I sure think that it's a pretty cool example)
