VITA

VITA - placed in the exergue of the obverse on coins of Justin I and Justinian I (bronze), Justin II and Sophia (silver and bronze), and Maurice Tiberius (bronze). The word VITA which appears for the first time on the coins of justin I and Justinian I (AD 527) may perhaps signify Sit longa VITA!, or may refer to the cross sometimes placed between the two heads on the coin as the source of true life.
