Sabini .-- The Sabines, a people of ancient
Italy (Italia Propria), whose country lay
between Latium and Etruria. Pliny writes that
it was enclosed on both sides by the chain of
the Appennines.-- Strabo says the Sabines inhabit
a narrow field.-- Feronia was their goddess.
See Petronia family in Morell.-- Butler, in his
Ancient and Modern Geography, describes the
territory of the Sabini as south-east of the
Umbria, seperated from Latium by the river
Anio, now the Teverone.
