Indents

Indents are a common decoration in ancient pottery, glass and silver vessels.

Indents, glass

The earliest indented glasses are cylindrical and convex-sided cups and beakers from the western Mediterranean and northwestern Europe, c. second quarter to middle first century A.D.  Later and in the east indents were used to decorate tableware, flasks, amphoras, jugs bowls, Syro-Palestinian jars and unguentaria.
