Prometheus

Prometheus forming man. - The ancient story of man being formed by Prometheus, and animated by Minerva, is made the reverse type of a bronze medallion of Antoninus Pius. On this beautiful specimen of the ornamental mint of Rome, in her best days of numismatic art, Prometheus appears seated on a rock, contemplating the recent work of his hands, a naked human figure, placed before him  like a statue.
