How To...

Ask your question about using NumisWiki below:

How can I add a page?

Search for a keyword that you think it would be apropriate for your page. If it's not found you will have a link to add the page for that keyword, otherwise you may want to modify the existing page.

How can I turn off automatic links for a specific word?

To see how they can be turned off press the [Edit] button and see this word: |Caesar|
and compare to this: Caesar

How can a person change font size?

You don't usually need to change font size. To make a title or subtitle, change the text type from "Normal" to "Title" and it will be automatically centered, bolded and of a bigger size. Those title types have various sizes and alignments so you have enough options to choose from when you need to change font size. The biggest advantage of this, instead of having a "font size" button, is that the Table Of Contents (TOC) is automatically generated from those titles.

While editing there is no rich text editor when using Opera or Safari browser. There's only a simple textarea which displays the HTML code. Why?

Opera 8 and Safari 1.3 do not support rich text editing, but Opera 9 and Safari 2.0 - they both will. You may use a HTML editor to create/change a page, then copy-paste to that textarea. Or use any other browser, like FireFox, Netscape or IE.

Sometimes saving a page takes too long, although the text on that page is not too long. Why do I have to wait a whole minute for that?

Because it has to maintain the automatic links between pages. For example when adding a new page (and a new title) it has to search all other pages for that title.

I can't place the cursor under the horizontal line for the Dictionary Of Roman Coins articles so that I can |type| the text from the left column. I'm using Firefox. What should I do?

It seems to be a bug in FireFox, please place the cursor above the horizontal line and type the text. If you want you may insert a new horizontal line between your text and ours. And finally you may delete the horizontal line from the bottom. That should do it.

When I press ENTER there's too much space between the new line and the one above it. I'm using IE. What's wrong?

Like in Frontpage, ENTER means NEW PARAGRAPH (< p > in HTML)
and SHIFT+ENTER means NEW LINE (< br > in HTML)
This issue is to be found only when using IE. For FireFox or Netscape ENTER means NEW LINE.
So you may use SHIFT+ENTER to go to the next line, instead of |just| ENTER.

How can I add images to the text? Any tip on the size or resolution it should have?

There are 2 buttons on the "Edit" page, one for adding an image by uploading it to our server - I۩ (Internal Image) and another one that asks the URL of an image (if you already have the image on another website) - E۩ (External Image). Image |type| can only be JPG (never use BMP, they are too big) and the resolution should be less than 800px width and 600px height.
Is there any way to see a list of 'blank' (or 'still to be typed') pages?
Any idea of the % of the book that we have typed so far?

Sure. This is a list with pages that are not done at this moment: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/dictionaryNotDone.html
The Dictionary of Roman coins is about 35% completed.
