IMPMAXIMIANVSAVG [IMP MAXIMIANVS AVG]; bust l., laur., dr., r. holding club over shoulder, lion's skin on l. shoulder.

REVERSE

GENIOPOPV-LIROMANI [GENIO POPVLI ROMANI]; Genius stg. l., modius on head, naked but for chlamys over l. shoulder, r. holding patera, l. cornucopiae. A in left field, star in right field. TR in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

DOUBLE FOLLIS. Bust type is probably P/U (see CORRIGENDA, VOL. VI, p. 184) with the presence of drapery. Specimen similar to ANTIOCHIA 52b except for unusually heavy weight: 17.44 g (expected c. 10.5-9.0 g). Possibly a mint error.

NOTES

Double follis (?). Weight 17.44 g. Coin sold on Freeman & Sear auction in June 2007 for $900.
