RIC VI, SISCIA [after 52a], DIOCLETIAN, REVERSE LEGEND VARIETY

OBVERSE

DIOCLETI-ANVSAVG [DIOCLETIANVS AVG]; head r., laur.

REVERSE

VIRTVSM-ILITVM [VIRTVS MILITVM]; the four princes sacrificing over tripod before archway in six-turreted enclosure. SIS in exergue.

NOT IN RIC

REVERSE LEGEND VARIETY. Coin similar to SISCIA 52a except for unlisted reverse legend break: VIRTVSM-ILITVM instead of VIRTVS-MILITVM. It is unclear if, in the case of this issue, unlisted rev. break makes a new entry. There are two reverse legend breaks attested for SISCIA 60a; but note also SISCIA 61 and SISCIA 62 (p. 461), where reverse legend break is the only difference. Coin could be listed after SISCIA 52a.
