ORIEN-S-AVGG [ORIENS AVGG]; Sol rad., stg. l., chlamys over l. shoulder, r. hand raised, l. holding globe and whip. SIS in exergue.

UNLISTED ISSUE. Reverse similar to the type introduced already before Diocletian's Reform in 294 (cf. antoninianus struck for Galerius Maximian in Lugdunum [RIC V/2 684; see picture]). Note the link between this coin and aurei of the same type [SISCIA 192-193; see picture (from Numismatica Ars Classica auction; weight 5.55 g)]. Should be listed with other fractions after SISCIA 171b.
