A statuette of Minerva, Goddess of Wisdom, above the streets of York

A statuette of Minerva, Goddess of Wisdom, above the streets of York.

By John Wolstenholme, 1801 CE.

This statuette is on a corner in the maze of small streets near York Minster. The text on the column says: "THE FIGURE ABOVE / IS THAT OF MINERVA / GODDESS OF WISDOM / AND OF DRAMA BY / JOHN WOLSTENHOLME / 1801". It is quite small; you can gauge its scale from the window it is next to.

The photograph was taken on 5th November 2002 with an EOS D60, using a Canon 85mm prime lens.
