A bronze drachm or hemidrachm of Trajan from Alexandria, showing Triptolemos in a serpent-chariot. Coin Type: Bronze drachm of Trajan, 98-117 CE
Mint and Date: Alexandria, 108-109 CE.
Size and Weight: 34mm, 28.28g
Obverse: (AVT) TPAIAN CЄB (ΓЄPM ΔAK IK)
Laureate head right, slight drapery at neck behind head.
Reverse: Triptolemos standing, wearing chlamys which floats out behind, right hand raised, left hand holding up chlamys to form a pouch, filled with seed, in a carriage drawn by two winged serpents. The right hand is worn away on this coin.
