Note: The user markus, on the Forum Classical Numismatics Discussion Board, wrote on 24th September 2010: "Radiate and laureate busts are both equally common throughout Gordian's coinage of Pella (with the exception of the earliest IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG series, which is most probably only laureate), and there is no difference in denomination among them.

His last issue in Pella with IMP GORDIANVS P F AG exists with three obverse dies that are die-linked to each other. The third bust is also radiate. The laureate is the only die (of the 25 I know) where a draped and cuirassed bust is seen from the front (there is a radiate cuirassed only bust from the front as well). There are at least six reverse dies to these three obverse dies, five of which show Pan, and one the city-goddess.

Yours is the nicest specimen of this obverse die I know."
