Exergue: AYT K M Reverse: OΔHC-CEITΩN Great God standing facing, head left, right hand raised and open, left hand holding long sceptre at an angle. E in left field. Note 1: The obverse die is the same as that illustrated in Varbanov I at #4463. Note 2: The confronted bust on the obverse, and the figure on the reverse, are most probably the Great God of Odessos. They are often named as Serapis because of the similarity of the figure and its attributes, but in Odessos, the Great God is more likely. |
