Egregio Lettore,
la classificazione
della moneta
di figura come sesterzio è basata sull'indicazione fornita circa
il peso ipotizzato per la moneta. Esiste infatti una moneta di
tipologia
del tutto simile, ma del peso di 10-14g, da classificare come
asse/dupondio,
un esempio della quale è presente nel link 8
di
cui sotto. Riporto di seguito gli elementi che mi è stato
possibile
raccogliere sulla moneta di figura:

This is a heavy coin, quite thick. It is not exactly circular, but
close,
diamater is just slightly larger than a US Kennedy Half Dollar. Perhaps
the thickness is about comparable to 2 US quarters. On the obverse is a
man's profile, facing right. There appears to be a rim lining of a rope
or weave pattern only on the top center of the coin (rest could have
worn
away if it existed.) On the left, visible letters appear to be ??NVS,
on
the right, AV???. There may have been more letters at one time. On the
reverse, appears to be a woman reclining, facing left. On the top, the
letters ??RIA?? are visible, again, could have been more originally. I

Conclusioni:
Per l'esame della
moneta mi
sono avvalso delle immagini riportate in figura 1 e di un'immagine
più
dettagliata del dritto, di colore leggermente azzurrino che, secondo il
lettore, si presenterebbe come verde all'osservazione diretta.
Per il dritto della
moneta
i termini di comparazione sono dati dai link 1 e 2 e da due immagini
tratte
dal link 10, immagini che non riproduco per via dei diritti di autore
connessi
e che possiedono la caratteristica comune di vedere l'imperatore
rappresentato
a testa nuda, come in figura e non laureato. In proposito rilevo che
l'immagine
dell'imperatore nella moneta del lettore appare priva di spessore, i
tratti
dei capelli del sovrano, come pure la barba, si presentano ripetitivi e
schematici, il busto appare ristretto, il collo piatto, la superficie
del
tondello appare bucherellata, la crepa ad ore 2 appare artefatta (con
il
tratto interno ricolmo che si interrompe alla base della lettera V per
poi proseguire profonda nel passaggio verso il bordo).
Per il rovescio della
moneta
i termini di riferimento sono dati dai link 1÷6. Osservo al
riguardo
che il bordo e la perlinatura del rovescio appaiono in figura
completamente
consunti, mentre non altrettanto usurata si presenta la leggenda del
rovescio
e la figura centrale; il rovescio presenta due tagli leggeri, mentre
sul
dritto ne è presente uno solo, profondo verso il bordo. In
figura
le spighe di grano tenute con la mano destra appaiono dritte e non
flesse
come nei link, mentre il braccio della personificazione si presenta ad
angolo retto invece che disteso. Il tralcio di vite scorre
inspiegabilmente
ben definito lungo un bordo assai consunto. Il berretto della
personificazione
appare perfettamente delineato nella moneta in esame, laddove non si
distingue
dalla testa in ciascuna delle monete di riferimento, in quanto di fatto
risulta l'elemento più soggetto ad usura nei passaggi di mano
subiti
dalle monete.
Alla luce di quanto
sopra,
pur nei limiti di una valutazione distanza, non ritengo autentica
la moneta.

figura
(peso, diametro, ferromagneticità eventuale del tondello) non

moneta
fa
parte
della
serie,
cosiddetta
delle
province,
dedicata
ai
viaggi
che l'imperatore fece in tutte le province dell'impero.
Singolare
in questa moneta la dedica, non ad una provincia, ma ad una
città,
ricca per la produzione di grano, esportato in tutto l'impero. Ma anche
la coltivazione della vite doveva essere a quel tempo importante, come
suggerisce il tralcio raffigurato sul rovescio della moneta. |
