che l'aspetto
generale e lo stile della moneta appaiono coerenti con gli antoniniani
d'epoca. Tuttavia, in assenza di informazioni sul peso, mi
asterrò
da una valutazione finale di autenticità.

La mancata indicazione
del peso,
il parametro fisico più importante, non consentirà di
trarre
conclusioni definitive sulla autenticità della moneta.

Publius
CORnelius SALoninus VALERIANVS CAESar. Traggo dallo Stevensono le
seguenti
note biografiche relative a questo imperatore. Cornelio Salonino,
figlio
maggiore di Gallieno e Salonina, nacque nel 242, fu dichiarato Cesare
da
Valeriano, suo nonno, nello stesso momento in cui il padre fu elevato
al
rango di co-Augusto (253 d.C.). Nel 258 ricevette dal padre i titoli di
Imperator e Augustus. Inviato in Gallia da Gallieno, sotto la tutela di
un precettore di nome Sylvanus, contribuì con la sua presenza a
mantenere quelle provincie sotto il controllo romano. Pare che Silvano
e Salonino ebbero un contrasto con il generale Postumo (v. http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salonino#Biografia)
riguardo
il
bottino
di
una
vittoria
ottenuta
da
quest'ultimo
durante
un'incursione
dei
barbari:
Postumo l'aveva distribuito ai propri uomini, mentre
Silvano
gli ordinò di mandarlo a Colonia Agrippina (Colonia), dove si
trovava
Salonino. Postumo si ribellò e attaccò Salonino a Colonia
Agrippina: furono gli stessi difensori a consegnargli Silvano e
Salonino,
e a metterli a morte (260).
