Per concludere, confesso di provare difficoltà ad esprimermi sulla moneta in esame; da un lato non emergono all'osservazione elementi precisi che facciano dubitare dell'autenticità, anzi le caratteristiche fisiche risultano in armonia con i conî d'epoca, dall'altra rilevo che la moneta ha un aspetto un po' piatto, "senza infamia e senza lode", se paragonata  alle monete di cui ai link che precedono. E' possibile che l'impressione generale sgradevole derivi dall'immagine che mi è stata data da esaminare, realizzata con mezzi casalinghi e poco efficace pittoricamente. Altro non saprei dire.

Dalla tabella si evince che le caratteristiche fisiche del sesterzio di figura (22g, 32mm, 6h) rientrano negli ampi margini di variabilità dei conî d'epoca.
(2) La moneta di figura fu battuta in un periodo imprecisato del regno di Marco Aurelio (forse nel 161 d. C.) in memoria del padre adottivo.
(3) DIVVS ANTONINVS. Antonino Pio alla morte fu divinizzato. Si legge in Scriptores Historiae Augustae (S.H.A.) che i Senatori facessero a gara per dare il proprio assenso all'apoteosi ("a senatu divus est appellatus cunctis certatim adnitentibus"); il tempio che era stato eretto in onore della DIVA FAVSTINA (v. immagine) fu dedicato anche ad Antonino Pio. S.H.A. parla di una doppia cerimonia, prima il fastoso funerale privato con la sepoltura nel mausoleo di Adriano, quindi il lutto pubblico ed il <<funeris ordo" (il cerimoniale per i funerali di stato). Comunque, secondo BMC, anche se non si può escludere, non v'è traccia della prosecuzione nel tempo del culto di Antonino Pio, come si registrerà invece per quello della DIVA FAVSTINA. 
(4) La CONSECRATIO ovvero l'apoteosi di Antonino Pio, oggi diremmo, mutatis mutandis, la santificazione, fu celebrata con diverse emissioni monetarie comprendenti, oltre a quello della pira, i seguenti tipi del rovescio:
  • un'aquila su un globo (RIC 1262, v. esempio) 
  • una colonna sormontata da una statua (RIC 1269, v. esempio)
  • un altare quadrato (RIC 1272, v. esempio)
  • una statua di Antonino seduto su un carro trainato da 4 elefanti (RIC 1272, v. esempio).
Del tipo della pira si conoscono numerose varianti (racchiuse sotto un unico categorico dal manuale del RIC) che si differenziano per: 
  • il posizionamento della sigla senatoria S C in esergo invece che a sinistra e a destra nel campo. 
  • la decorazione della pira, diversamente disposta sui vari livelli, 
  • la presenza, in cima alla pira, di drappi e fiaccole, come nel link n° 10 di cui sopra, invece che di una quadriga.
