Egregio Lettore,
la foto è poco chiara, di conseguenza non è possibile determinare con certezza se il busto dell'imperatore sia corazzato, solo paludato oppure paludato e corazzato. Propendo per la prima ipotesi e in armonia con questa scelta propongo la classificazione che segue: 

Doppio sesterzio1, zecca di Roma, 249÷251 d. C.2, RIC IV/III 115a (pag. 135)3, Cohen V 39 (pag. 189 - v. figura nella stessa pagina), indice di rarità "r"

Descrizione sommaria (sono indicate in rosso le parti della leggenda usurate o comunque illeggibili):

Concludo osservando che le caratteristiche fisiche della moneta sono accettabili e tali appaiono anche l'aspetto generale e lo stile nei limiti consentiti da una valutazione a distanza sulla base di un'immagine poco chiara e dettagliata.

Dalla tabella si evince che le caratteristiche fisiche del doppio sesterzio di figura (36g, 32-34mm,12H), sono compatibili con quelle dei conî d'epoca.
(2) Il RIC fornisce una datazione generica per questa moneta (249÷251 d. C.) e indica, come zecca di emissione, quella di Roma. Jerome Mairat (v. http://www.cgb.fr/monnaies/rome/r09/1_article/3tableau.html) si spinge ad affermare che la moneta appartiene alla terza emissione del regno e fu  battuta nella prima metà del 250 d. C. dalla quarta officina della zecca menzionata.
(3) Le possibilità sono:
RIC 115a Busto radiato e corazzato (v. esempio);
RIC 115b Busto radiato e paludato (v. esempio);
RIC 115c Busto radiato, paludato e corazzato (v. esempio).
(4) IMPerator Caius Messius Quintus TRAIANVS DECIVS AVGustus.  Nato nella bassa Pannonia (l'attuale Ungheria) tra il 190 e il 200 d. C., Caio Messio Quinto ricevette da Filippo I l'incarico di ripristinare l'ordine alla frontiera danubiana. Il grande successo riportato indusse le truppe ad acclamarlo imperatore nel 249. Ciò lo pose in rotta di collisione col sovrano regnante Filippo I; nella guerra che ne seguì quest'ultimo risultò perdente e morì in battaglia a Verona. Il Senato romano riconobbe immediatamente il nuovo sovrano, onorandolo col nome di Traiano. Si ascrive a suo merito l'avvio delle opere di riparazione delle strade in tutto l'impero. Nel 250 il nuovo sovrano nominò Cesari i due figli Q. Etrusco Erennio Mesio Decio e C. Valente Ostiliano Mesio Quinto, poi restituì potere al Senato ripristinando la carica di censore e affidandola ad un suo uomo di fiducia, P. Lucinio Valeriano. Nel 249/50 Traiano Decio promosse una feroce persecuzione dei Cristiani, nel 250 ordinò che tutti i cittadini dell'impero firmassero un documento con cui dichiaravano la loro fede negli dei. Vittime della persecuzione furono il Papa Fabiano che fu martirizzato, Cipriano, vescovo di Cartagine, costretto all'esilio, Origene, uno dei padri della Chiesa, incarcerato e torturato. La chiesa cristiana rimase a lungo divisa tra coloro che accettarono pubblicamente gli ordini di Decio (lapsi) e quelli che rientrarono nel grembo della chiesa. La persecuzione si allentò  solo nel 250 a causa della guerra contro i Goti. A contrastarne la minaccia fu inviato nella Mesia il figlio maggiore di Decio, Erennio, nominato dal padre Augusto. Decio presto seguì il figlio nell'impresa  ma entrambi trovarono la morte nella disastrosa battaglia di Abrittus nel giugno del 251 [informazioni tratte da: http://www.tesorillo.com/altoimperio/trajano_decio/1decio.htm#historia].
