Malik of KurzuwanIn 1220, Ghengis Khan destroyed Bukhara and Samarkand. The Khwarezm Shah fled West. He left instructions to the remaining cities of Afghanistan to look to their own. Kurzuwan struck these coins in 618 AH, in the month of Rabi II. (June 1221 AD). The city was razed and the entire population slaughtered, very probably just two or three weeks after these coins were struck. |
