MYSIA/PARIONParion (or Parium) was situated on the southern shores of the Propontis (Sea of Marmara), in Asia Minor. It was founded c. 710 BC by a colony from Miletus and became a flourishing port due to it's excellent harbour. It was a renowned seat of worship of Eros, Dionysus and Apollo. Under Augustus, it was made a Roman colony, named Colonia Pariana Julia Augusta. |
