1937 EDWARD VIII AE CORONATION MEDALObverse: • HIS • MAJESTY • KING • EDWARD • VIII •, Crowned bust of Edward VIII facing right, wearing ceremonial robes, the legend in raised letters on a raised border with each word separated by a rose.
Reverse: CROWNED - A. D. 1937. Britannia standing facing within a distyle arch, holding crown aloft with her right hand and union flag on pole in her left, in background to left, battleship and to right, London riverside scene in which St Paul's Cathedral can be discerned.
Diameter: 45mm
No coins were issued for Edward VIII who became King on the death of his father, George V, on 20th January 1936. Edward's coronation never took place because he abdicated the throne on 11th December that same year after a reign lasting only 326 days.
As Edward VIII was never crowned the coin types bearing the portrait of George V continued to be struck throughout 1936 and up until the coronation in 1937 of Edward's younger brother Albert, who reigned as George VI
This unsigned medal was struck in 1936 in anticipation of the proposed Coronation of Edward VIII on 12th May, 1937. The same reverse dies of this medal were subsequently reused on coronation medals for George VI. This was often the case with the coronation issues for George VI because the date of his coronation was the 12th of May, the same date as that originally proposed for Edward VIII.*Alex

Crawford 496/1, ROMAN IMPERATORIAL, Marc Antony, AR DenariusRome. The Imperators.
Marc Antony, 44-31 BCE.
AR Denarius (3.95g; 18mm).
Military mint travelling with Antony, 42BCE.
Obverse: Antony's bearded head right; M ANTONI - IMP (ligate).
Reverse: Facing bust of Sol within distyle temple; III - VIR - R·P·C, around.
References: Crawford 496/1; HCRI 128; Sydenham 1168; BMCRR (Gaul) 62; Antonia 34.
Provenance: Italian export permit No. 13168 of 2018; ex Nomisma 32 (2006), Lot 129.
This coin was likely struck shortly after Brutus’s and Cassius’s defeat at Philippi in 42 BCE. Antony is still shown with his beard of mourning (he and Octavian would not shave until Caesar’s assassination was avenged), and it’s likely that the die engravers had not yet been instructed to remove the beard following Philippi. This is the last bearded image of Antony to appear on his coinage. There were two versions of this coin type: one with IMP spelled the standard way; the other with IMP ligate, as on this example. The ligate version is the scarcer version of the two. The reverse type emphasizing Sol was a common theme on Antony’s eastern coinage, perhaps reflecting his growing enchantment with eastern Hellenistic culture.

Crawford 496/1- Cohen 12 (5fr.)- Sear 1467
This coin was minted during Antony's military campaign against Brutus and Cassius in Greece.
The tyrannicide Cassius gained some notoriety for robbing the temple of Helios in the city of Rhodes; he was said to have left untouched only the chariot of the sun. This type of Antonius reproaches Cassius for that robbery and constitutes a promise to avenge the god of the sun (see F. X. Ryan, SNR 84, 2005, 84–86).L.e.

Ex-Incitatus
David Sear in "The History and Coinage of the Roman Imperators" says:
The reappearance of IMP in Antony's titulature suggests that this issue is subsequent to the second battle of Philippi (23 October), though as the Triumvir is still bearded it must have been struck quite soon after the deaths of Brutus and Cassius before orders had been given for the modification of the portrait. With Caesar's murder now avenged both Antony and Octavian could shave the beards which they had worn as a sign of mourning."Jay GT4

about VF
Artemis Pergeia, a pre-hellenic goddess, called in Pampylian dialect Vanassa Preiia, was one of the most important deities in the eastern Mediterranean. Its cult statue is known only from coins. The statue was hidden in a gold covered shrine. C.80 BC it was looted by the notorious Verres, Quaestor of Cilicia. M.T. Cicero included it in his inquiry after Verres' misdeeds in 79 BC (see Cicero 'In C. Verrem'). No remnants of the famous temple have been found. Jochen
