ERITREA_FAKE_TALERO.jpg
ERITREA - Fake TalleroERITREA - Fake Tallero - 1891. Often listed as a "RESTRIKE" of KM-4. 3 clues to help determine that the coin is fake:
1. The weight SHOULD be 28.125 g. This coin weighs 26.3 g.
2. The "O" in Umberto is open at the bottom. I have seen this on other "restrikes".
3. Poor edge beading on the reverse at top of the coin.

Eagle, wings spread, head left. Sceptre and globe held in feet. Letters around, 4 crowns.

*Graffiti: On the obverse of this coin two dates have been carved in the open fields on either side of the busts. They appear to be "27/3/83" and "24/3/83" I don't know whether the '83" in the date is for 1883 or 1983, since this coin was minted in 1861.
