The legend is slightly different from the British Museum specimen (=#230). I think this reverse die is more common. Placement of kappa in relation to central tower is an indication of die.

[If JMAL sees this & wishes to share more about the provenance & the collection, I would love to hear!]

Notes: It is often emphasized that the “Rape of the Sabines,” one of Rome’s founding myths, refers to "rape" in an older sense of the word, meaning "abduction." Nonetheless, the purpose of the abduction was to compel marriage and reproduction. Even if the Sabine women (at least some) eventually accepted the marriages in Livy's version, it is difficult to remove the modern reading of "sexual assault" from the myth.
It is quite revealing that Romans publicly took great pride in the myth of their founding fathers kidnapping and forcing the mothers of the first Romans into relationships we’d call slavery today. Two thousand years ago, though, such coercive social relations were far less objectionable (at least to those in power).

Information from Forum purchase:
This reverse is known for Septimius Severus from Moushmov 6737, but it is not in the plates. Varbanov lists the Severus coin (4351, referencing Moushmov, printed in 1912) but apparently never having seen an example, he was unable to identify the diameter and did not list rarity. Our coin, entirely unpublished, has this extremely rare war god reverse inappropriately on the reverse of the empress

25 mm, 8.21 gms

SNG Righetti 1195.

From Leu Numismatik Web Auction 13, lot 888. From the auction catalogue: The Synedrion of the Neoi was the assembly of adolescents of a city between the ephebia and their full membership in the ekklesia, i.e. when they were roughly 20-30 years old. The organization mostly focused on athletic and military exercises in the Hellenistic era, however, by the time the Greek cities fell under control of the Romans, the role must have shifted away from preparing the youth of the polis for war. Although the exact task of the Neoi in the Roman era is hard to assess, public inscriptions in their name attest their continuous significance to the civic life of many Greek cities, perhaps most prominently so in Laodicea ad Lycum, where they even financed the present coin emission (CYNЄΔPIOY NЄΩN is to be read as '[coin of] the Synedrion of the Neoi'). Extremely rare, apparently the third known example.

Because Aquarius is standing on a column it is probably a monument. Such is not known for Aquarius but for Marsyas as symbol of a Roman colony. But this is not proved for Edessa (Hill).
The Aquarius could be the river-god Skirtos, today Daysan river.

This rev. is known for Tranquillina and occurs too on coins of Carrhae.

About the use of AVG in the younger Philip compare Mommsen 'Römisches Staatsrecht 2, 1164, note 5. (Pick)

The rev. shows the statue of the Sandal Binder of Lysipp. Sometimes called 'Jason' or 'Cincinnatus' in error. The correct interpretation as Hermes based on the description in the Ekphrasis of Christodoros of Koptos.
