Acquired from Old Roman Coins, December 2003.
A reverse, which according to the BMCRE, may commemorate the pulvinar of Apollo and Diana (and possibly Ceres) for the opening of the Colosseum in 80 AD. This issue was interrupted by the fire in Rome later in the same year and was continued again by Domitian upon the mints reopening in 81.

Rev: IMP / XII - ACT en exergo - Apolo Citharoedus de Actium, de pié de frente viendo a izq., vistiendo larga vestimenta y portando Plectrum/Plectro (Pequeña púa hecha de diferentes materiales que se usa para tocar instrumentos de cuerda, como un reemplazo o ayuda de los dedos) en mano der. y Lira en izq.

Reverse: SVB VMBRA ALARVM TVA. Haloed eagle of the evangelist John behind the crowned united coats of arms of Castile-Leon / Aragon-Sicily.
Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castille united Spain and captured the beautiful Moorish city of Granada, thus completing the Reconquista of Spain. After the fall of the last Muslim kingdom, they turned their attention to exploration which led to the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus in 1492.
The gold Castellano weighing 4,6g was introduced in Castile by Enrique IV in 1475, the coin was highly valued and therefore called "excelente". In 1483 however, Barcelona and Valencia introduced the gold ducat of 3,5g. In 1497, in order to unify gold coin standards within Spain, a coinage act was passed and the Excelente of 3,5 g and 23,75 carat replaced the Castellano in Castile. 07/16/11 at 17:14Cayo Julio César: nice

IMITACIÓN ITALIANA, Después de la revuelta de Mont Caelius (Una de las 7 colinas de Roma, hoy Celio) de Roma en 271 D.C., los monetarios de la ciudad perdieron su estatus de monetarios oficiales, sin embargo continuaron acuñando moneda, indudablemente en Italia del norte, así pasaron a ser simples falsificadores.
