Roman Imperial: Aelius as Ceasar, Orichalcum Sestertius. UK metal detecting find on farmers land between RAF Ternhill & Whitcurch in Shropshire, approximate year of find 2008-2013.Rome 137 A.D. 25.19g - 31.3mm - Th 5.3mm, Axis 6h.

Obv: L AELIVS CAESAR - Bare head right.

Rev: TR POT COS II PANNO-NIA / S-C - Pannonia standing facing, head left, holding vexillum in right hand, left hand on hip. S-C across fields.

Ref: RIC II, 1059; Cohen 26; BMC 1921.
Rated Scarce.
Provenance: UK metal detecting find on farmers land between RAF Ternhill & Whitcurch in Shropshire, approximate year of find 2008-2013. Chris Scarlioli Collection.

The seller told me that the coin was found on farmers land which had a Roman road named Longford Road go through it, and in the direction of Whitchurch which had around 5,000 Roman soldiers stationed there.

Rev: CONSECRATIO / S-C - Four-tier funeral pyre decorated with statues standing between draped colonnades and surmounted by a quadriga. S-C across fields.
