Although the control is noted for Byzantion (cf. Marinescu grp. II, issue 33, 81), the style of the obverse is clearly not Byzantine but rather Chalcedonian. Marinescu does not record the control for Chalcedon, although he does record a very similar AN monogram (cf. Marinescu grp. II, issue 13, 27-32; Mektepini 151) that has wheat stalk in exergue. TLP
